Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Mason's Restaurant ("Mason's", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use our website, contact us or dine with us. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Mason's Restaurant, 155 - 157 Ingrave Road, Brentwood, Essex CM13 2AA. If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your data, please email info@masonsrestaurant.co.uk or write to us at the address above.

The information we collect

We collect personal data you choose to give us:

  • Enquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number, the nature of your enquiry, a preferred event or private dining date if you give one, your message, and how you heard about us.
  • Newsletter signup: your name and email address, if you ask to receive our news and offers.
  • Table bookings: booking details you provide through our online booking system (see "Bookings" below) or over the phone, such as your name, contact details, party size and any dietary requirements or access needs you tell us about.
  • Gift vouchers: details you provide when buying a voucher through our voucher provider (see "Gift vouchers" below).

We do not ask for more information than we need to deal with your request.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiries and help you plan events, private dining, weddings or other bookings.
  • To take, manage and honour your table reservations.
  • To send you our newsletter and offers, but only where you have asked us to (for example by ticking the "keep me updated" box or signing up to the newsletter). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

Our legal bases

  • Contract: processing needed to take and manage your booking or voucher purchase.
  • Consent: sending you marketing emails and setting analytics cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: responding to enquiries you send us and running and protecting our business and website.
  • Legal obligation: keeping records we are required to keep by law.

Bookings (ResDiary)

Online table bookings on this website are processed by ResDiary, a third-party reservation service. When you book through the booking widget, the details you enter are collected and processed by ResDiary on our behalf so that we can manage your reservation. ResDiary's own privacy policy applies to its processing of your data.

Gift vouchers (Gift Voucher Brilliance)

Gift vouchers are sold through Gift Voucher Brilliance, a third-party service on a separate website. When you buy a voucher, your details and payment are handled by that service under its own privacy policy. We receive the information needed to issue and redeem your voucher.

Website forms and reCAPTCHA

Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and abuse. Google may collect technical information about your device and behaviour on the page to determine whether a submission is genuine. Google's privacy policy and terms apply to this service.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager to run analytics on this website, but only after you accept cookies through our cookie banner. Analytics data helps us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. See our Cookie Policy for details and how to change your choice.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers named above (ResDiary, Gift Voucher Brilliance, Google), with providers who help us run our website and email, and where we are required to by law.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as we need it: enquiry messages for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards; booking records in line with our business and legal record-keeping needs; and newsletter details until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to erase your data where we no longer need it.
  • Object to or restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, for example for marketing emails.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@masonsrestaurant.co.uk or write to Mason's Restaurant, 155 - 157 Ingrave Road, Brentwood, Essex CM13 2AA. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
